McCain Foodservice Solutions will always strive to supply the perfect spud every single time for our partners.
McCain is committed to improving sustainability in 3 simple ways. By eliminating food waste, ensuring our packaging is 100% recyclable and making sure our products can be part of a healthy diet.
Packaging
Since 2018, McCain has reduced plastic packaging by 20%. We are committed to cutting single-use plastic and continuously seek new ways to make our packaging more environmentally friendly. In Great Britain, all of McCain’s plastic packaging is recyclable, and we are committed to making all packaging globally recyclable, reusable, or compostable by 2025.
Food Waste
To combat food waste, McCain distributes frozen products which can significantly reduce wastage in the kitchen, and surplus products are given to food banks to aid those in need. Since 2017, McCain has maintained a zero landfill policy by utilising all parts of the potatoes we grow, including the skin and fries. Anything left over goes to animal feed
McCain products are free from artificial colours, flavourings, and preservatives. 95% of our potato products have green or amber nutritional indicators, indicating they are low in saturated fat and sugar. Through product innovation and reformulation efforts, McCain has decreased saturated fats by 70% and salt by 30% since 2007. They provide full nutritional information on the back of packs, and specific product pages also provide nutritional values. All McCain products are 100% palm oil-free and use a blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil, with rapeseed oil sourced from the UK when possible.
